I have spent many an hour chortling at Airplane and the Naked Gun movies as a kid and as an adult, so I was sad to hear about the passing of Leslie Nielsen.  At 84 years old, he was being treated for pneumonia, and it was just too much.  His nephew Doug Nielsen announced the news on Canadian radio, saying: “Just in this last 48 hours, the infection has gotten too much and today at 5.30am, with his friends and his wife by his side, he just fell asleep and passed away.”  I’m glad it was peaceful.
