Eyjafjallajökull – by Sean Stiegemeier

This video was made from still photos.  It’s amazing.  Here is what the photographer said about the photos:

“So I saw all of these mediocre pictures of that volcano in Iceland nobody can pronounce the name of, so I figured I should go and do better.
But the flights to get over took forever as expected (somewhat).
4 days after leaving I finally made it, but the weather was terrible for another 4.
Just before leaving it got pretty good for about a day and a half and this is what I managed to get.

Wish I had more time. I missed all the cool Lightning and the Lava of the first eruption.
But I figure this will just be a trial run for another day.”

I know it’s cheesy, but nature actually is amazing.

Spencer Pratt Crazy Update

On the episode of The Hills airing tonight in the US Spencer says:  “I don’t let her go on TV, no computers. The only thing Heidi does is read and write poetry and pray and pet puppies… She is logged out of the matrix.”

That’s healthy.

PS22 Chorus=Happiness

ALERT!  ALERT!   You are about to lose many many many minutes of your life to these children.

The PS22 Chorus are a choir from a public school in Staten Island who featured on Passion Pit’s album “Manners”.  Frankly, they were underused.  Their Choir instructor posts videos of them on youtube singing contemporary music in a pure and beautiful way that could only be achieved by kids.  I have spent hours watching their videos, and they never cease to give me a lift.  And now, I share some of my favourites with you!

They Never Cease to Amaze Me.

The Catholic Church that is.  Oh, there have been some absolute stonkers over the years, and today is no different.

According to the AP, a nun in Arizona has been excommunicated from the Catholic Church after agreeing that a seriously ill woman should have an abortion in order to survive.  Sister Margaret McBride sat on the ethics committee of a hospital which admitted a young woman who was 11 weeks pregnant late last year.  The woman was suffering from a life threatening condition which would have almost certainly led to her death if she hadn’t had an abortion.  Sister McBride saw the facts and agreed that in this case an abortion was necessary.

In a letter to a local newspaper Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted, Head of the Phoenix Diocese, wrote:

“I am gravely concerned by the fact that an abortion was performed several months ago in a Catholic hospital in this diocese,” Olmsted said in a statement sent to The Arizona Republic. “I am further concerned by the hospital’s statement that the termination of a human life was necessary to treat the mother’s underlying medical condition.

“An unborn child is not a disease. While medical professionals should certainly try to save a pregnant mother’s life, the means by which they do it can never be by directly killing her unborn child. The end does not justify the means.”

So they both should have died?  Fair play to Sister McBride who obviously had a bit of sense.  It’s a shame the Catholic Church couldn’t learn a little from her.

Romance isn’t Dead!

Every once in a while I hear a story that makes me believe that the stuff we see in films might actually be based in fact.  That the white knight, the romantic surprise and the happily ever after are not only the thing of dreams…and the story of Keir Moffatt is one of them.

The 26 year old was on his way home to Bristol after a visit to Cardiff when he had one of those moments.  We’ve all had them, be the on a train, in Spar, or at an STI clinic.  Well, maybe not so much the STI clinic.  But it happens all the time – you lock eyes with a stranger and for a moment there is a connection.  If you have an over active imagination like me, you begin to imagine the life you could lead together.  You know the stuff, frolicking through meadows, kissing at sunset, raising your beautiful cherubic children…but then you pay for your pot noodle and when you turn around…they’re gone.  Anywho, Keir had one of those moments, but he has decided not to let it go.  He has taken romance into the 21st century and set up a facebook group to try to find his girl!

On the facebook page Keir says:

”On the train back to Bristol from Cardiff last week, a gorgeous girl in my carriage really caught my eye.

”We barely spoke but, when she left, I regretted not speaking to her more – and asking her out.

”When I was driving home with my mate, I mentioned my regret and he said ‘Well, you know what they say, you’re never more than three people away from who you want to know’.

”Half an hour later, and perhaps against my better judgement, I set up this Facebook group to see if my mate’s theory was true – to see if I could find the Mystery Train Girl and get a second chance to ask her out.”

Ah…  Since then, more than 13,000 people have joined the search, but as she hasn’t turned up, Keir decided that she might not want to be found and called it off.  Now he’s raising money for charity or something (I was too lazy to figure it all out but you can check it out here).

One way or the other, isn’t it lovely to think that he went to the effort?  And that you if you’re single, tomorrow this could happen to you!  You could lock eyes with a stranger on a train, and that could be it!  Romance is not dead…keep the dream alive people.

Diggy Simmons

Being the connoisseur of  reality television that I am, I have watched with joy the happening in Rev Run’s family over the last few years.  From Run’s House to Daddy’s Girls I delighted in them.  They come across as a really loving family with strong foundations and bonds that modern living can not break.  Even my Dad likes them.  It’s good to see Diggy, the second youngest member of the family, is getting to show off his talents now.  The boy has skillz (that’s how they spell it in the hood)!

Pretty impressive.  Go on the Diggy!
