Orbis Ireland

Sean and Yvette are two Dublin based photographers whose work you can often find in Le Cool Dublin.  Recently they visited Ethiopa to take some photos for Orbis Ireland, a charity working to eliminate preventable blindness and restore sight to rural villagers in the poorest regions of southern Ethiopia by 2015.

The photos are really striking.  Check them out here.

Orbis is a wonderful organization! Also check out Seva Foundation who do great work in preventable blindness too!

90% of blindness occurs in the developing world. There are 45 million blind people around the globe, and 4 out of 5 could see again if they simply had access to an eye doctor. Seva Foundation has helped restore eyesight to nearly 3 million people! Check them out at http://www.seva.org

I particularly LOVE their alternative gifts catalog called GIFTS OF SERVICE. For just $50 you can sponsor sight restoring cataract surgery for a poor person in places like Bangladesh, Tibet, or Cambodia. Find out how you can help prevent blindness around the world by visiting http://www.seva.org/gifts
